WHY HOURS OF RUNNING AND AEROBICS A WEEK CAN BE COUNTER -PRODUCTIVE TO FAT LOSS

Are you spending hours in the gym running on a treadmill each week only to find that you are getting diminished returns for your efforts? Do you feel over trained and exhausted and yet you still cannot see those all important changes in your physique? If so then help is at hand! Read on...

Here's a quote from Paul Chek - one of the most renowned and respected health and fitness authorities in the world.

"First of all, lifting weights in the intensity zone of 8-12 reps coupled with short rest periods has been shown beneficial for releasing the androgenic hormone testosterone and growth hormone. These important hormones encourage development of lean muscle mass, which is a metabolically active tissue consuming calories 24 hours a day. Fat, on the other hand is just along for the ride! Aerobic exercise has been linked with the release of the catabolic hormone cortisol, which is antagonistic to the development of lean muscle mass. Cortisol also promotes conservation of glucose and encourages the use of fat. This might sound good on the surface, but you also become as efficient as a Honda Civic running for 80 kilometres on one gallon of gas. Then you are just like those people going for hours at a time on machines, only to utilize miniscule amounts of fat! "

In lay terms, excess aerobic exercise can over train you, resulting in a release of stress hormones into your body. When your body is stressed, it will not burn fat as effectively and as glucose stores diminish, the body will eventually burn muscle for energy resulting in a slower metabolism. In addition, the stress can result in a lowered immune system which can leave you more susceptible to illness, hardly what you need to improve your health! In a nut shell, you need to keep your muscle tone in order to burn the fat. Muscle burns fat 24/7. To convince you of this, compare a sprinter to a marathon runner. Who do you think is leaner? If you chose the sprinter, you are right! Sprinters train with interval and fartlek type training principles (anaerobic exercise) as opposed to long, slow distance training (aerobic training). Their workouts are much shorter yet more intense so they are able to tone their bodies more and thus burn fat more effectively.

SO HOW WILL HIRING A PERSONAL TRAINER MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE?

PMA Personal Training keeps to the fore front of sports science and now offers a training system comprising of the most effective fat burning methods yet discovered. Once past beginner level, a typical workout can now comprise of a combination of boxercise and kickboxercise (the non contact exercise which utilises the moves from traditional boxing, kickboxing and Thai boxing) with the awesome Russian system of kettlebell training (an adaptation of weight training and what the Russian army use to train their soldiers).
Using the interval training approach, this potent combination will not only tone up your entire body, but it will develop coordination, balance and agility and burn 4 times as many calories as running! Workouts become shorter, much more fun, yet infinitely more effective as the time passes with incredible speed. You will feel increased enthusiasm for training as the results literally speaks for themselves. The out dated long, boring sessions of aerobic exercise are over and now you can look forwards to exciting rip roaring workouts that will turn your body into a fat burning machine!
